Every single person, regardless of age, deserves a solid support system for the duration of their educational journey. I am SO grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your support system!

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2001. My major is Performance Studies (communications, radio, theater, film) and Spanish is my minor. I have been a teacher for more than 20 years! In the beginning, I taught high school Spanish; however, the majority of my teaching has been done in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade. Most recently, I was a K-5 Literacy Coach for my school district.

I am excited to offer assistance with several different subjects, including kindergarten readiness, elementary math and reading, phonics, English as a second language (ESL), Spanish 1 and 2, public speaking, theater, and lots of writing! Literacy is what I am most passionate about; reading is NOT a privilege... it's a right!

When teaching, I follow the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model: I do, we do, then you do! I am a firm believer in immediate affirming and corrective feedback as well.

Hobbies

When I am not teaching, my favorite thing to do is hang out with my teenage son! I also love painting, drawing, and Bible journaling! When I am not doing either of those things, I am probably outside playing ball with my two big German Shepherds!
