Tameka
Certified Tutor
My goal is to empower students to embrace challenges, foster a growth mindset, and connect their learning to real-world applications. With my passion for puzzles and creative hobbies, I like to introduce interactive and engaging methods to make learning enjoyable for every student. My tutoring style involves personalized attention, goal-setting, and a supportive environment that aligns my commitment to energizing and empowering students.
I believe that you can NEVER unlearn things, so why not fill your brain with knowledge that will help you achieve your immediate and future goals.
My experience in working with students date back to when I was in elementary and I would help other kids with their homework before class started and during recess. As a natural learner, I owned a child care company that allowed me to teach kids from the age of 2+ and prepare them for kindergarten.
While my younger sister was in middle school and then high school, I've tutored and taught her and her friends throughout middle school and high school in various subjects.
I started my educational journey with an associate degree in Paralegal Studies and registered to American Public University to obtain a B.S. in Human Resources.
My fave subjects to tutor are Math and Reading! I love numbers, which is why I spent the last 8 years of my legal career working in the financial sector. As a young girl, I remember purchasing my own set of encyclopedias and reading each one. What an experience that opened my eyes to the world!
The subjects in which I tutor are expansive as I believe that you can never learn too much. Throughout my legal career, I obtained many certifications that allowed my knowledgebase to continue to grow. Today, I tutor in most subjects for middle school and high school, to include math, english, reading, science and writing. I also tutor in basic computer skills, presentation and public speaking.
