Over the last twenty-one years, I have had the pleasure of being an elementary and middle school classroom teacher. I have experience teaching the four disciplines of science, English language arts, and social studies/history to students in grades 4 - 8. Within those last twenty-one years of classroom teaching, I also became an after school tutor for the school district, along with tutoring home bound students and students having extended school year through the summer months. I also privately tutored students whose family and /or classroom teacher knew that tutoring one-on-one with their student would bring school success. Because I had been a child who struggled in school, I know how important it is to communicate with the child, identify the area of concern, build the basic foundation, and teach the learning skills that will bring them academic and personal success. Their smiles are a gift to me.

Hobbies

I am an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction and enjoy discussing these books at our community book club. I love gardening and being outdoors. I have a special interest in walking creeks and woods to find signs of critters that we share our world with. I take yoga classes at the local YMCA - stretching my body along with my mind. Many years ago, I attended an art school, so drawing and crafting are still a part of my life. My favorite media is sketching in pencil and hard charcoal. My first and foremost interest is making a loving home for my family.
