I am passionate about helping adults achieve their dreams, whether it is to complete high school, begin college, gain new skills, or prepare for the workforce. I believe everyone has the right to pursue as much education and knowledge as they wish and it is my responsibility to help my students achieve their goals. I taught literacy, study skills, Adult Basic Education, GED prep, Civics, and ESL/ELL classes for several years. I also taught adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the areas of customer service, business communication and etiquette, health and wellness, and creative writing. I also volunteered with immigrant and refugee high school seniors, helping them complete college applications and writing scholarship essays.
I actually love all of the subjects that I have taught. The best part of teaching is seeing my students become more confident in their learning and skills. I know it sounds goofy, but we teachers really do see those lightbulbs come on in our students' heads! I love learning from my students as well. I have learned so much about the world from my students, and my knowledge grows alongside theirs.
I am a first-generation college student and a life-long learner. I have been both a "traditional age" college student and an adult learner. I have a B.A. in psychology from Creighton University, an M.A. in educational administration-higher education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and an Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) in educational leadership from the College of Saint Mary.
Besides teaching, I have also worked in crisis intervention, higher education administration, volunteer coordination, educational research, and student advising.
I look forward to learning with you!

I consider myself a dabbler-so many things interest me! I am always learning and trying new things. I am a naturally curious person, so I tend to ask a lot of questions and do a lot of reading when something new catches my eye. My absolute favorite hobbies include yoga, Tai Chi, taking walks with my dog, reading, solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and travelling. I have taught myself, with varying success, to bake, cook, crochet, and knit. I engage in a lot of experimental cooking. I am an animal lover and have been the "food lady" for a variety of domesticated animals through the years- dogs, cats, rats, and guinea pigs. I like to putter around in my yard, go to museums, and visit art fairs and farmers' markets. One of my favorite places in the world is the public library and I have never entered a bookstore I didn't like. I am also just learning how to play pickleball.
