I am passionate about helping children and adult learners achieve success, particularly in Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL), because gaining understanding in these subjects leads to "Aha!" moments in which the student feels accomplished. In addition to tutoring all levels of Spanish, Conversational Spanish, and ESL I enjoy tutoring Elementary Reading, Elementary English, and Elementary Math.

My learning philosophy revolves around building connections between the student's past knowledge and new concepts by creating a safe space where errors and mistakes are opportunities for growth. I focus on connection and dialogue with students so they can get the personalized instruction they need.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with an ESL Endorsement Minor from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2005, and I have worked in the field of education for 15 years teaching Spanish; offering Math, English, and Reading invervention support; and offering one-on-one social, emotional, and academic support to a student with autism.

I have traveled abroad to various Hispanic countries where I have interpreted and interacted with the local population in multiple community building outreaches, including in Mexico, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and Belize.

In my free time I enjoy games, expanding my Spanish knowledge, reading books about positive mental health and wellbeing, and walking in nature. I am passionate about fostering a world in which people feel affirmed and important.
