Kimani: Harvey tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a current student at Spelman College. I major in Sociology and Anthropology, and I minor in Spanish. My first experience in children's programming has been in summer camps as both a volunteer and official camp counselor. Since then, I have worked as a summer school teacher with the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus, Ohio, and most recently as an afterschool tutor at Raising Expectations in Atlanta, Georgia. I have always primarily worked with elementary-aged children, and occasionally middle school as well. While I can teach a wide variety of subjects, I am most passionate about English, History, and Spanish. It is my belief that the best way to get and maintain an engaged student is to impart a true love for learning. With younger children, I am a huge advocate for reading and reading comprehension. Once they become efficient in reading they tend to thrive in all other subjects.
