Madeleine: Markham tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Tulane University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and hold a Master of Legal Studies degree from Northeastern University.
I learned how to read at the age of 3 and reading and writing became paramount to my upbringing and eventual career as a Writer today. My favorite subjects to tutor are reading and writing. Those were my favorite subjects growing up, and my English teachers in high school are those I remember most including my fourth-grade teacher who taught us Greek prefixes and suffixes to form a great foundation in English and Grammar.
I believe that the ability to communicate effectively and with authority is an essential skill. I've always been complimented on my ability to explain complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand and why it's important.
I believe the why is just as important and was an inquisitive child growing up, so part of my teaching style is the overarching big picture. I've had friends come to me to help them edit graduate school essays, cover letters for jobs, and I've realized how these skills can help people write their essays to get into college, prepare for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of Standardized Tests, and improve their grammar skills.
I want to educate and empower people in their writing abilities as with this skill, the sky is the limit.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching and covering football, broadcasting high school soccer and basketball games, running, and reading mostly fiction.
