I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Tee: Cambridge tutor

Certified Tutor

I'm a Texas native and a graduate of Texas Tech University in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry (Go Red Raiders!). After undergrad, I studied environmental science before pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine at Iowa State University, but I ultimately decided to return home due to the financial cost of being out of state for vet school. Currently, I am pursuing a master's degree back at Texas Tech in environmental toxicology. My focus is on agrochemicals put off by feedyards and how these impact our populations of pollinators and migratory birds. I've got a very strong science and math background, and a very patient personality. I'm a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and I am engaged to an occupational therapist who specializes in working with children and adolescents with autism, so I have learned a lot about remaining calm and helping students learn in a way that fits them best through her.

During high school, I was an AP student and an IB student. I went on to earn the AP Scholar Award for successfully passing 3 or more AP tests with scores of 3 or better. I also went on to earn my IB diploma after testing in IB English, IB Physics, IB Biology, IB History, IB Math, and IB French. This diploma also required completing 150 hours of community service, completing projects in various subjects, writing an extended essay of 10,000 words, and taking a course in Theory of Knowledge which greatly helped me to learn about how we, as students, learn and comprehend material.

Throughout college, I have taken coursework in a variety of sciences including biology, microbiology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, animal science, and anatomy. I also led a student volunteer organization that ran a tutoring service for local community students, so I do have experience working with an array of student personalities and learning styles.

I have a very hands-on teaching style, as I believe that students tend to remember and learn best when they are able to actually complete things themselves as opposed to just being shown and talked to. Of course, I will be there to help guide your understanding. I am an incredibly patient person, and I am very flexible with my schedule. I do request that at least a day before our session, you contact me with any materials or specific topics you would like to go over in the session so that I may adequately prepare the session for you. This will help save us both time and ensure that you get the most out of your session.

If all of that sounds like it would be a good fit for you, consider choosing me to help in your math and science subject areas!
