I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County pursuing a BA in Asian Studies. I'm an aspiring world language educator, passionate about global citizenship and intercultural exchange. On my journey to fluency in Japanese, I've had the pleasure of assistant teaching a college-level intermediate Japanese class, tutoring high school students of mixed levels, preparing study guides, quizzes and tests, as well as teaching a few lessons. I've also had the unforgettable opportunity to travel to Japan twice on language exchange, where I stayed with a host family and got to use my Japanese with my family and my peers. I also have an intermediate understanding of Korean, and I love helping people understand new concepts in language. I particularly enjoy conversation practice, because I feel the most rewarding part of language learning is being able to use what you learn with others in everyday contexts, which I hope to impart upon my students! When not studying languages or working part-time, I enjoy reading, card games, dance, theatre, and playing viola and ukulele.
