I graduated from the University of Iowa with Bachelor's degrees in English & Creative Writing and German in May 2020. While at the University of Iowa, I served as a teaching assistant for a German course and editor for several student publications. In spring 2020, I received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship award and my TESOL Certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
I am most passionate about the subjects of English literature, critical and creative writing, and German language acquisition. I believe that the study of language and literature is imperative for building students' awareness of other people's perspectives and fostering inclusive and accepting communities.
To support the development of students' writing and language skills, it is important for me to provide opportunities that foster students' connections between the language or material and their personal experiences. I believe that fostering these types of connections ensures that students retain the objective skills or information. To promote this sense of connection, I use my role as tutor to encourage students to take agency over their own learning, whether it is choosing a research topic that applies to their personal interests or developing vocabulary related to topics that support their own goals.

In my free time, I enjoy reading contemporary fiction, especially books that have a magical twist. A couple of my favorite authors include Carmen Maria Machado, Helen Oyeyemi, and Emily Danforth. I also enjoy listening to indie music, watching period dramas, and taking my dog for long walks.
