I am a graduate of Great Basin College and received my Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with a major in social sciences and a minor in math. In addition, I completed my Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Teaching English Learners. After graduation, I accepted a job at our local middle school and have taught 7th and 8th-grade math and 7th and 8th-grade social studies. I tutor a wide range of grade levels and topics and truly enjoy them all. I have a rather unique background in education; I taught my nine children at home for 18 years, from kindergarten through 12th grade. I have tutored elementary students for a local company, designed and operated an after-school tutoring program for teens in a juvenile detention facility, tutored Hispanic adults in preparation for the GED, and taught math at the college level for three years. I love helping students of all ages achieve success; one of my biggest strengths is the ability to gauge a student's understanding of a topic and present the information in a different way if necessary. I believe in tailoring lessons to a student's natural learning style and incorporate elements to appeal to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. In my spare time, I like to read, cook, bake, play the piano, hike, and travel.
