Sarah: Pflugerville tutor
Certified Tutor
I am currently a graduate student getting my Master's in Couples and Family Therapy.
In 2020, I graduated from the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA) with a degree in Hispanic International Studies and African American Studies. In the fall of 2019, I studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as the culmination of nearly a decade of Spanish language study. This rewarding but challenging experience not only makes me more qualified to tutor Spanish, but personally familiar with the experience of struggling to engage with learning. My minor in African American Studies and history of activism also make me aware of the many systemic reasons some students struggle or fall behind in school more than others. I also have experience accessing tutoring services myself, so I know what I look for in an excellent tutor: respect, non-condescension, patience, and someone who pushes me without throwing me into the deep end.
To me, being a tutor requires validating each person's unique challenge(s), acknowledging the nuance and possible systemic explanation for those challenges, and making them feel as capable and confident a student as we all deserve to feel and be. When working with me, you will feel respected and heard; you will feel supported; and you will be pushed to challenge yourself, but welcomed to ask for help. My areas of specialty include Spanish, English, Reading Comprehension, Writing, and ACT Reading, English, and Writing.

- ACT English: 34
- ACT Reading: 35
In addition to studying full-time, I spent my undergraduate years invested in activism, particularly immigrant justice in the Washington area. My passion for advocacy has led me to pursue a career in law. When I'm not studying or working, I love to read, box (albeit quite poorly), involve myself in local activism, spend time with my friends, and eat lot's of ice cream (oreo flavor, to be specific).
