Certified Tutor

I am a senior English Major at the University of South Carolina: Beaufort. I am also pursuing a concentration in Secondary Education. When I graduate next year, I will be fully licensed to teach high school English! I am looking forward to spending the rest of my life helping students grow and learn.

I have been a Writing Center Tutor at my university for the past year. I love tutoring writing because I enjoy helping students create an individual writing process that works best for them. I always find that my students have such wonderful ideas to share, they just need a little extra help communicating these ideas in the most effective ways. My passion is increasing student's self-efficacy and confidence in their work - such amazing things happen when students feel supported, empowered, and motivated to succeed. In addition to writing, I also tutor reading skills necessary for understanding literature at any level. I have a background in the Spanish language (Hablo un poco Espanol), so I am also able to communicate with and support English Language Learners, or Multilingual students.

When I'm not tutoring or working on my own writing and research, I am running long distance with my Cross Country/Track&Field team. I love being a student-athlete! I also love the beach, art museums and, of course, a good vanilla latte.
