Certified Tutor

I have been helping to educate others since I was age four or five, and I have not stopped yet. I was born into and raised in a family of educators. My joy is in helping someone to succeed and become independent in his or her endeavors.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, so I am a die-hard Tarheel Fan! Later, I earned National Board Professional Teacher Certification in the area of Adolescent Language Arts. Then, I earned a Master's degree in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix in Arizona. Finally, I received a doctoral degree in Missions and Evangelism from Christian Leadership University in New York.

I taught school for more than 35 years in various capacities: classroom teacher; assistant principal; academic and school improvement coach in all areas; curriculum director for the English Department, and reading specialist.

I have been tutoring students of all ages in person, individual and group tutoring, as well as online since 1996, including working as an online writing tutor for Pearson Education Services. I tutor in Reading, Writing, English, Math and test prep. My students have always experienced great improvement in test scores. Most of the test prep has been for SAT, GED and the teachers' Praxis tests.

Although I like math because numbers are exact, and challenges are fun, I prefer reading and writing, because I am the creative type. I am an author and publisher, and I have written and published nine books of my own since 2014. I have six authors that I have helped to get published.

Aside from writing and producing stage plays and books, I like to crochet when I can find time. I really love traveling and exploring new places, music, nature and hiking with my husband who is a photographer. We do great work together! He takes the pictures, and I write the stories!
