Gretchen: Petaluma tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a certified teacher for Early Childhood through sixth grade, and love to guide students to their "light bulb" moments of discovery. I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and earned my degree in Psychology. I am proud to have done so while raising my three children, and in turn showing them not only how important education is but also that hard work helps you reach your goals. Since graduation, I have written original curriculum focusing on language arts and literature, as well as music, and each of these covered multiple grade levels. While I tutor in multiple subjects, literature and language have always been favorites of mine, and I was thrilled to research, develop, and publish an original curriculum for high school students around the book "Twelve Years A Slave," edited by Dr. Sue Eakin. I am quite passionate about strong skills involving language, reading, and writing, as these are the basis for everything we do, no matter the profession. Sharing this enthusiasm with my students is essential for their educational experiences. I also am very familiar with students on the autism spectrum as well as being challenged with ADHD, as my oldest son has both of these.
