I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Hiroshi: Carrollton tutor

Certified Tutor

I studied engineering and math at the University of Missouri - Rolla (now the Missouri University of Science and Technology), where I earned master's degrees in both subjects. After graduation, I worked as an embedded systems engineer and eventually joined a start-up technology company in 2001. After a few years, the company sold and I was able to become a teacher. I have taught both in high school and at community colleges full-time. I'm now teaching engineering technology and math as an adjunct instructor.

Being a teacher is one of the really great jobs in the world, and tutoring is one of the best ways to teach. As a tutor I get to work one-on-one with students, meaning that we go at the student's pace and take the approach that works best for the student. Tutoring is a personalized way of learning, and it is immensely satisfying when a student truly makes the subject his or her own.
