When a caring, knowledgeable, and effective teacher is paired with a motivated learner, the opportunity for success is undeniable. I am a licensed Illinois educator with middle school, language arts, social studies and ESL endorsements and experience reaching students at all academic levels. I spent 15 years teaching middle grades students in the Chicago Public Schools.
As a tutor, I would utilize the same set of skills that I utilized in the classroom. As a teacher and tutor, I develop, design, and implement creative lesson plans that engage students by applying a variety of teaching methods. My strategies include creating games, graphic organizers, manipulatives, mnemonic devices, and utilizing technology to help students understand and retain key concepts.
I begin all learning experiences by getting to know my students: their strengths, challenges, and goals. From there I formulate a plan to help my students achieve success. A plan would include determining what skills, concepts, and assignments need to be covered and creating a timeline for successful completion of these tasks.
I am passionate about teaching children and forging relationships with them that help build a sense of confidence and enable them to grow as learners.
