Certified Tutor

Hello! My name is Cynthia and I am a current sophomore at Vanderbilt University! I am double majoring in Public Policy and Human & Organizational Development with a minor in Spanish. I first started tutoring in high school, when I started working at Kumon Learning Center and began teaching elementary and middle school students reading and mathematics. I also volunteered my tutoring services through my high school's National Merit Society, through which I helped my peers in advanced subjects such as AP testing, ACT, SAT, and PSAT prep.
My favorite thing about tutoring is the personalized aspect of it. Students get a chance to sit down one on one with a tutor and ask them specific questions about areas that they struggle in, and the tutor has the opportunity to personalize the lessons to best suit the student. I believe in tailoring teaching methods to align with the student's learning style and passions so that he/she has the best educational experience possible.
When I'm not studying or working, I enjoy playing piano, reading, making chocolate chip cookies, or rewatching Friends on Netflix for the 17th time. I strive to be the most effective tutor possible, so please feel free to contact me with any suggestions or concerns!
