Certified Tutor
I have spent the last several years at Columbia, completing a PhD and a postdoctoral research fellowship in biology. Previously, I earned my bachelor's degree in biology from Cornell. During grad school, I was a teaching assistant for a molecular biology course for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students, which helped me to find my strengths in teaching and tutoring: rather than seeking to 'teach to the top of the class', I find analogies, visual representations, and other angles from which to approach a concept until all my students understand a given concept. I look forward to helping students discover the principles of my chosen field--specifically, in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or general biology. I'm also proficient in writing and speaking English, and I am passionate about communicating with appropriate style, grammar, and tone. I'm happy to tutor in areas related to written and spoken English, in general, for adult learners, and in scientific technical writing.
