Certified Tutor

I am currently enrolled at Tulsa Community College and will graduate this May with my Associates in Science for Biology, then I will enroll in Oklahoma Wesleyan University to graduate with Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Biology with a focus on Pre-Medicine, so that I may continue my education to become a medical doctor. Since high school, I have been tutoring a wide range of students from elementary to college level.
I started tutoring elementary students through a program in high school in math and science which led to me tutoring high school and college students in varying levels of math and biology. Some of those students I also tutored guitar. Now I prefer to tutor in math since its like trying to solve a puzzle and I love using critical thinking to solve problems like that. I like to get to know the students and see how they try to work problems out, from there I will make a lesson tailored specifically to what the student lacks so that they may improve their comprehension and learning skills. This includes making or using puzzles and games that stimulate critical thinking, that is needed to find solutions. I believe that a student will be successful if they are able to use their past experiences, including experiences that are seemingly unrelated, to solve nearly any problem that is in front of them.
For the past two summers, I worked at a youth church camp. During those two years, I also worked with the YMCA in an after summer-school program called Summer GO first as a Counselor that helped Class Specialists teach classes and last year as a Class Specialist that taught physical activities and health. This has given me a better insight as to how some students use their personal time to solve problems outside of the classroom. My spare time is spent doing puzzles, playing guitar, reading, listening to music, as well as playing pick-up games in football, Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, or any other sport.
