Stephanie: Tacoma tutor

Certified Tutor

I am a student at Brigham Young University studying Applied Mathematics. I currently live in Provo, Utah, but I was raised in Ohio and lived for a year and a half in Mexico City.
I first started tutoring when some of my sister's friends asked me for help in Pre-Calculus in high school, and I have loved it ever since. However, my real love for teaching and tutoring began when I was serving as a full-time missionary in Mexico City. I served for 18 months, and during that time I not only developed my teaching skills, I also grew to love the people I taught.
I especially love working with young children, and I have volunteered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters, YMCA summer camps, and Safety Town program.
My favorite subjects to tutor are math, Spanish (of course!), and test prep, but my real passion is in any kind of analytical thinking. I believe that intelligence comes in many varieties, and a student can excel in any subject if he can be creative and maximize his own strengths.
I also love music. In my spare time, you will often find me playing the piano, ukulele, or my French horn. I also love reading, writing, spending time with my family, and being outdoors.
