I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I began tutoring while I was a business school student at Columbia in the 1990s. While I loved working in finance, I found that I enjoyed teaching even more. Nothing beats hearing a student say, "Oooh! Now I get it!" It feels wonderful to help students achieve their goals and to maximize their success.

I love, love, love teaching and tutoring math because I think the subject is so valuable! Think about all of the wonderful things that we have because of math. I like to think that by empowering each of my students to be a "math person", I am giving them the ability to be one of the next generation's brilliant leaders, inventors, tech innovators or engineers.

In addition to attending Columbia Business School, I earned my undergraduate degree at Duke University (Economics) and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Montclair State University in NJ.

I am committed to my students' success and will invest the time to make sure that our tutoring time is as productive as possible. I have taught math at the high school level for nearly 10 years and I have developed and refined the best resources to help support a student's learning. As an experienced teacher, I am familiar with many different learning styles and will personalize our work together to best fit your individual needs.

I feel my teaching and tutoring style has been strengthened by being a parent of a teenager. Today's teenagers have so much going between school, extracurriculars and tutoring. I understand the demands on their time and will work to make tutoring time effective and fun.

Outside of teaching and tutoring, I am an avid rock climber and love spending time on the water. This summer I picked up paddle boarding and surfing!
