Certified Tutor

I am a current student at the University of Minnesota with a major in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature and a minor in French. I am scheduled to graduate at the end of the summer, 2018. Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature is a dynamic degree that focuses on cultural analysis, language, philosophy, and foreign literature through the rigorous reading and comparisons of acclaimed texts. I'm also a graduate of the semester-long Writing for Social Change program through the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA), which combined an internship at a non-profit organization with writing curriculum designed to create positive social change. I have completed design courses at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in advanced graphic design and typography, and have experience working with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe InDesign.

I would love to tutor students who want to enhance their skills in essay composition, reading comprehension, public speaking (I was the commencement speaker for my graduating class!), French language (beginning to intermediate), graphic design, and mathematics through Algebra 2. Though I did not choose to pursue a career in mathematics, I have always been academically successful in the subject, scoring a 5 on my AP Calculus exam.

I have experience working with students in a middle school age range. I was a summer camp counselor for 4-H, and also assistant teacher at the Independent Filmmaker's Project, where I received a commendation for camp counselor of the year. However, I am open to working with students of all ages!
