I am interested in helping students to achieve their academic goals because I believe education is the way a person finds their place or role within society and in the world. With education, students are able to make a lasting impact in the world. I first worked with students in high school. I was a National Honor Society member and weekly, I would stop by local elementary schools after classes and help with homework in various subjects. On my own time, I also helped my neighbor's kids with math homework.

I am a graduate of Rice University and obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Cognitives Sciences. I am currently seeking admission to medical school.

I tutor math subjects mainly (i.e., elementary school math, pre-algebra, algebra I & II, geometry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, AP Calculus AB, at the moment). I also may tutor basic Spanish, but to let you in on a secret... I am still currently learning Spanish (on a third year level).

I love to tutor mathematics, because it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I hope to propagate the same excitement and passion for mathematics that I have to others. Math is important! It is all around us!

My teaching philosophy is that you learn through discussion and action. There needs to be some type of discourse between the teacher/tutor and the student, such that the latter is much more motivated to understand the information that the teacher/tutor provides. The teacher or tutor should not just fling information at the student and expect them to absorb it. They should go through the concepts step by step, ensuring after each step that the student has grasped whatever is taught. It is after the discourse that the assessment of knowledge or mastery should be given.

My favorite pastimes include running, beginner's yoga, volunteering, reading, and staying up to date with GAME OF THRONES (or any lesser television show).
