I became interested in tutoring after teaching Biology in the Deer Valley School District at Mountain Ridge High School and Boulder Creek. I enjoyed using projects, labs and online activities to instruct about difficult concepts. I believe as a teacher that students need to be shown the skills they need to become independent learners. Also, the best way for people to understand ideas to relate them to other experiences in their life. This is very true in science where many concepts are new.

My background did not start with education. I first went to school to be a paralegal and I have worked in a couple law firms. My passion however, is Biology and I returned to school for a life science degree. I even worked in a zoo for a few years taking care of the animals. I have lots of great animal facts so just ask! I turned to education when I felt I wanted to make more of an impact on the world but I got to stay immersed in science as a teacher. So I went back to ASU and earned my Masters in Education.

In my free time I practice martial arts with my family at a local studio, watch movies, and play on my computer. I love to answer questions and talk about all kinds of subjects. I look forward to being your tutor!
