Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Vassar College with a degree in Cognitive Science. I currently work for FIUTS, an international education program affiliated with the University of Washington. I spent my last year of college working as a tutor and mentor for underserved youth in Poughkeepsie, NY. I am really interested in how people think and learn, and welcome the opportunity to work with each individual student in the manner that they learn best. I am excited by student's progress, and believe that a strong sense of self-efficacy is crucial to success. I am qualified to tutor a wide range of subjects, including math, english, biology, chemistry, and SAT/ACT/AP test preparation. I encourage students to be carefully organized in their thinking, as it helps them learn quicker and remember easier. My primary goal for my students is for them to understand *why* they are doing what they are doing, and for them to be able to apply solving individual problems to novel scenarios. In my free time, I like hiking, camping, Game of Thrones, the Seahawks, and exploring Seattle parks, among other things. I am interested in pursuing an master's degree in public health and/or education. I look forward to working with you!
