I'm a lifelong Biology student and educator.

I graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelors degree in the Biological Science and am currently pursuing a Master's in Environmental Science. Afterwards I will pursue Ph.D.-level study and a career in academic research. I want to learn more about maintaining biodiversity across regions. I also seek to improve understanding of how people shape their environment and fit into their regional ecological history. In addition to expanding knowledge, my aim is to have my work inform public policy and education in order to better address the environmental issues of our time.

Mentoring young people is very important to me. Since 2009, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds, helping them to excel and close the achievement gap. I have spent three years teaching in southern China, introducing young learners to the English and coaching high school students for study in the United States. Inspiring the next generation to engage with their environment in new and exciting ways is the most important work I can do. It is my life's work to make the sciences accessible and show that even as they navigate life's challenges, academic study is still valuable. And if I can encourage more young people to take an active interest in the biological world around them, resolving the climate crisis and transitioning to more renewable resources, even better.
