Kathryn: Alpharetta tutor
Certified Tutor
I'm a Ph.D. in History from Harvard University with several years of experience teaching European and World History, writing, and study skills to undergrads. At Harvard, I received a Certificate of Distinction in Teaching for my engaging, student-centered method of leading discussions and my exceptionally positive student evaluations (averaging 4.7 out of 5.0 in Spring of 2015). My personality is naturally laid-back and supportive, but I also love to dig deep, think critically, and get excited about the big ideas that tie together the gritty details of history and give them meaning.
As a long-time student myself, I understand how difficult it can be to manage all of the competing demands that work, school, and life can place on you. I respect students' time and always keep in mind that they have their own lives outside of school. As a tutor, my foremost goal is to work within, rather than against, your particular talents, learning styles, and time constraints, helping you achieve your goals while sparking your enthusiasm for thinking deeply and critically about the topics you're studying.
