Certified Tutor

I grew up in Mexico and Texas. I moved to New England to attend Bowdoin College and majored in Sociology and Latin American Studies.

I teach at a bilingual school where I get to work with students from ages 4 to 14. I support students in the lower-grades with math and science, and the older students with writing in English and Spanish. Additionally, I teach Spanish to adults at a language academy. I feel passionate about learning and teaching. My favorite part of it is the opportunity to be creative. As our world modernizes, less students succeed under traditional teaching methods - and I like to connect feelings with learning. One must connect with the material and feel it relevant in order to enjoy and even love learning.

Hobbies

When it’s warm outside I like to go on long walks, and sometimes for a run too. I like exploring cities by foot because I like learning street names and knowing about establishments. I like reading about mind consciousness, and journaling. I recently started a project where I use film and my voice to document my thoughts (like a documentary version of my journal). I’m still struggling to put it together because I’ve never done it before, but I’m very motivated to learn from it and hopefully keep on doing it in the future. I love animals! Specifically, dogs, and owls. I’m very meditative, and I enjoy my walks because they allow me to reflect on myself in relation to the people who surround me. I’m a highly sensitive person, so I’m often contemplating my connections with others.
