Certified Tutor

I am a junior at Vanderbilt University and working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. I graduated as valedictorian of my high school class of about 200 students in 2015. During my senior year of high school, I tutored both middle school and high school students in a broad range of subjects-- ranging from STEM to essay revision-- for a private tutoring company. Upon my arrival at Vanderbilt, I began volunteering for a free essay revision service called The College Essayist, in which I would assist students in proofreading and strengthening their college essays before they sent the essays in for evaluation with their applications. I enjoy fostering professional relationships with students, both because I am able to assist in their understanding of important subjects and because we work together to make the material more interesting and applicable. While I do not study STEM in college, I have deep roots within the STEM fields. In high school, I participated and medaled in several science-based competitions, and I worked for over a year in a Cardiovascular and Molecular Genetics research laboratory at Vanderbilt University. I enjoy learning about and teaching all subjects, and I have had great success sparking interest with past students in those same subjects. Education is a vital jumping point for students to build careers for themselves; I can't wait to facilitate more growth for students with Varsity Tutors.

Outside of tutoring, I am heavily involved in politics and activism. I am currently serving a one-year term on the National Steering Committee of Partners in Health Engage, a grassroots network dedicated to building sustainable healthcare systems around the world, especially where there are massive inequities. Additionally, this summer I am working as an intern in one of US Senator Tammy Duckworth's state offices.
