I tutor math at virtually all levels from elementary to high school. I'm a math major who recently graduated magna cum laude from Stony Brook University as an Honors College student. I'm happy to help any way I can!
Ever since I was young, I've been highly passionate about math. I find it fascinating that nearly every physical aspect of the universe can be described uniformly by a single symbolic language. Math is very abstract, however, and I understand that despite societal pressure to understand it for its applications, many students struggle with it or fail to understand why it's important. I hope to help kindle (or rekindle) an excited spirit of discovery within students that I work with, or at least give them an appreciation for why math is useful and necessary.
Though my main passion is math, I have a growing appreciation for creative things as well. In my free time, I like to design games, draw on my tablet, and compose music. I'm not amazing at any of these things, but I'm still learning, and I'm in awe at how much math is involved with all three of them! Of course, this doesn't surprise me that much; I see math as more than just computations and numerical manipulation but as the art of logical statements.
So, if you decide you want to work with me, I hope to not only help you understand the math you need to know to pass that class or to refresh yourself on material you need for your career, but also increase your appreciation for a subject that nearly everyone is exposed to but not many truly understand. I'm happy to help in any way I can!
