My teaching philosophy is based on a mindset of growth and commitment. Everyone can learn something, if they have the proper guidance and put in effort. It can be more difficult for people to learn things that don't mesh with their interests, but that can be overcome in time. My job is to help someone have confidence in their ability to learn, and give them the tools to do so. My persistence and loyalty to my students is how I build rapport.
I received a double bachelor's degree in Fine Art and Psychology from UC Santa Cruz in 2015. I received my Master in Teaching from Seattle University and my teaching credential in 2019. I am endorsed in Elementary Education, Middle Level Mathematics, and Visual Arts. I taught math and art at a middle school for 3 years, and I'm currently just taking time to tutor students individually. I am most experienced in teaching mathematics and arts courses, but I have taught all subjects for my credential. Currently, I am studying software development and web accessibility.
Outside of academia, I am looking to shift towards new avenues in the tech and medical fields. I enjoy reading, video games, exploring new places, spending time in the outdoors, and spending time with my friends. I would like to travel the world someday... so far I have been to Korea, Japan, France, and Italy! I believe that getting out and experiencing other ways of life can help promote tolerance and understanding between cultures.
