Certified Tutor

I hold a master's degree in English from Boston College, and I have 5-6 years of tutoring experience, depending on the subject. I also teach college level writing and English.

I tutor ESL/ELL, English, Writing, Editing, Grammar and Style, SAT Reading, and Literature. I most enjoy tutoring writing, since that's what I teach, and literature, since that's what I enjoy studying most.

My tutoring (and teaching) style is relatively informal, since I like to make sure students are comfortable both with me and the material. I also find that a more casual setting increases students' willingness to learn and their ability to retain material. My goal is to make sure that the student not only understands the material, but is confident in their understanding, since that leads to better grades and, ultimately, a better education.

When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy music, cooking, writing, watching Jeopardy obsessively, and being outside with my dogs.
