John: Ramapo tutor
Certified Tutor
I have had a lot of experience working in the classroom as a teacher's assistant, and mentoring students one on one as well. I received an education in the humanities, but I'm comfortable with all subjects at the lower levels as well. I like teaching because it gives me the opportunity to learn as well, along side the student.

What is your teaching philosophy?
When I begin working, the first thing I try to do is get to know the student on his own terms. This means doing a lot more listening and a lot less talking. This helps me establish a personal relationship with the student, which is necessary if he is to learn anything from me, and secondly, it helps me gauge where he is at and how he will learn best.
