Certified Tutor

I graduated with a Bachelor's of arts in German from Bowling Green State University in the spring of 2014. During my undergraduate program, I spent a year studying abroad in Salzburg, Austria, where I took college classes in German and effectively interacted in German in my daily life.

As a tutor, I am trained in current teaching methods and have experience adapting lesson structures to student strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I am trained in lesson planning, instruction, assessment, and using assessment data to guide further lessons through City Year, Inc. I have used assessments and a quick review question for the last session to tell me what the student still needs help with or if we are ready to move on to something else. As a tutor with City Year, I also gained hands-on experience tutoring a diverse group of students in a variety of subjects and supported students in Algebra and Physical Science classrooms. Additionally, after school, I also started to teach one student the basics of the German language. By the end of the year, we were starting every day with greetings and a simple conversation in German.

I am looking forward to sharing the wonders of German and teaching the language, I would also love to tutor algebra as well as middle school science and math. I look forward to working with you.
