What is your teaching philosophy?
"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." I want my students to understand what they are learning. I want them to feel comfortable enough with the concepts that they can teach it to someone else.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In the first session, I like to figure out the student's learning style. I also like to outline the student's weak areas and then map out a plan of action with the student.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Independent learning comes from having a solid study plan and knowing how to tackle different types of material. I would help the student to create a study plan that focuses on content review, and then practice questions to reinforce.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Encouragement & positive reinforcement!
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Tackle the concept from another approach or use a different teaching method.
