What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that every student is different, so I try my best to tailor my teaching style to meet the individual needs of a student.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would first introduce myself and get to know the student. Then I would talk with the student to best understand their learning style.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

First, a student needs to understand how they best learn new material, whether that is through flashcards, study guides, anagrams, etc. Then I can give them tools to use on their own that will best meet their needs.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would break the concept down into its simplest terms, drawing from concepts that the student already knows, and then the student and I would work our way back up.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I mostly try to move at the pace of the student so they don't become overwhelmed with the material we are working on.
