Certified Tutor

I first began tutoring unofficially during my high school years, as many family and friends needed help with math, and I was one of the older kids in the group. I enjoyed helping them learn new concepts, and different ways to think about problems in order to get them to understand them better and succeed in their classes. Sometime during my college years I signed up with a tutoring company in which I was able to tutor online, which gave me more experience in dealing with different kinds of people that needed my help. Thanks to these experiences I believed I am well suited to teaching various levels of math to different customers.

Outside of tutoring I still attend school. I am currently a masters student at ASU, and am usually around the campus doing school work or just hanging out with friends. When I have free time I enjoy playing basketball, going to the movies, and playing video games from time to time.

I believe that as a tutor, I will be able to help you understand a concept, no matter how long it takes. Sometimes it just takes a little time a different method of thinking to get a point across, but in time the problem can be solved easily and with confidence.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe anyone is capable of learning anything; sometimes it just takes a different method of teaching.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Ask them their name, what year they are, and what they are currently struggling with.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Give another example of the problem, and ask them to do it alone. Near the end of the session we go through all that we have learned.
