What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in a custom solution for each student, because each student has unique needs. I believe that every student has great potential, and I'm here to help them unlock it.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I'd usually create a structured study plan for them. Figure out their strengths and where they have opportunities to improve.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I'll teach them the skills necessary to independently analyze and critically think.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Most professional goals are long-term. It's important to keep it close to the heart with more short-term goals.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would try to go about it in a different way and/or use spaced memorization.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Teach them to read critically, and provide reading material that would serve as excellent exercises.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Figure out what they want and figure out what they need. The best questions to ask usually are the ones people don't know to ask.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would try to find some way to make it more approachable to the student.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Techniques include spaced memorization, understanding of strengths and weaknesses and more.
