Certified Tutor
I have been teaching elementary aged students for the past 4 years in a Title-1 district. I am very familiar with effective strategies that can get struggling learners back on track. I take pride in helping people learn and know that I can make it fun; even for students that are currently in a rough place with their education.
I'm an older brother to three younger brothers and a coach for baseball/basketball. I love teaching academics but also really enjoy teaching others how to do things that aren't necessarily academic. For some reason I was obsessed with making sure all my brothers new how to tie their shoes by time they were three. One of the most important things I have learned from teaching children how to learn is that patience and humor reign supreme. Thankfully I have developed enough patience to sit in the DMV without complaining and enough humor to keep kids interested in things I say.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that people learn best through discovery. Think about advice we tend to give to the people we care about. Sometimes it falls on deaf ears until the person has an experience that opens their eyes. Trying to create that experience where a student opens their eyes and goes "ohhhh" creates a similar impact. Discovering a solution to a problem versus being told exactly how to solve it is so incredibly different.
