Certified Tutor

I believe that every student is capable of doing their absolute best when presented with material in a way that best suits them. No two students maximize their abilities and confidence through the exact same method of learning, and it is because of this fact that individual tutoring can be a groundbreaking experience for aspiring learners and test-takers.

I have worked with multiple tutoring companies from South Florida to New York City, and the only one parallel across the board has been the ability of any student to eventually reach their potential through proper training and practice. It is my goal to assist in this endeavor using all the tools at my disposal. Having a proven track records of success, I know that I can make a difference.

I am a graduate, with honors, of The University of Georgia. Having majored in economics, I also took various upper-level classes in comparative literature, classical culture, Latin, and music, as well as graduate studies in statistics and mathematics. Varied? Absolutely, I've always been an inquisitive learner, and that is something that I strive to inspire in my students.

In my spare time, I am a voracious reader who enjoys staying fit, keeping track of current affairs, watching movies, playing tennis and racquetball, cooking, and following various sporting teams (with unequal amounts of success).

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is that every student, through an approach uniquely tailored to their needs, can maximize their potential measured in knowledge, grades, or scores. Whether mastering test-taking techniques, or gaining a better inherent understanding of the material, the goal is to instill confidence and increase performance.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Typically, in my first session with a student, I will try to get an understanding of where the student currently is, and of what their goals and endgame from our sessions hopes to be. Using that information, and an initial assessment of how the student has approached these goals in the past, we will set up a game plan to best meet and hopefully exceed managed expectations.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I have found that the best way for a student to begin learning independently is by giving them the tools to do so with high efficiency, and by instilling motivation toward the outcome and excitement toward the process. I have found that the more a student sees the progress, the more they want to keep progressing, and this is how I approach a lasting motivation toward learning.
