Certified Tutor

As a recent graduate of a liberal arts college, I love learning about most things, and I am passionate about helping others do the same. From young refugee children learning to read, to undergraduates struggling with organic chemistry, I have enjoyed helping many students improve skills, solve problems, and achieve their goals.

I have formally tutored Algebra I/II, chemistry, and neuroscience. Informally, I have helped children and peers in countless subjects. I can relate to a wide range of educational experiences, including a diverse, urban high school, an advanced magnet school for math and science, a close-knit liberal arts college, and a huge, research-focused university. I am currently serving with the Community HealthCorps and applying to medical school.

No matter what you are struggling with, I would love to meet you and help you achieve that next step.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe the best learning happens not by telling a student the answer, but by guiding the student to discover the answer herself.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I do a lot of listening during the first session. I would like to hear who you are, how you learn, what you are struggling with, and where you want to improve. Together, we will develop a plan to achieve your goals.
