Zachary: Bergen County tutor
Certified Tutor
I recently graduated from the University of Maine with my Bachelor of Science in secondary education, with a concentration in social studies. While in school, I focused on Eastern European and Near East Studies. I have done two mission trips-one to Detroit to help with urban development, and the second to Guatemala to teach English and place concrete floors in their homes.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy on teaching is that all students have the ability to learn. It is up to an educator to meet the student where they are educationally. After you find out where your student base line is, it is up to the teacher to bring the information to the student by kinesthetic, audio, and visual teaching methods.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
The first session with the student is very important. First, find out the student's interests. By doing this, you might be able to bring educational information to your student in a way that can incorporate their interest. Also, find out how they learn and what works for them customize your teaching style to their learning style.
