I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a graduate student currently studying for my Master’s degree in Sports Industry Management at the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012 with a BSBA degree in Finance. After two and a half years working in bankruptcy and litigation consulting in New York, I decided to pursue my life dream of a career blending my passion for sports and business and moved to Washington, DC in January 2015 to commence my studies at Georgetown.

The eldest child in my family and local extended family, I was always the go-to tutor for my siblings and cousins growing up. I tutored them and their friends in various subjects but felt that I did my best work and was most impactful preparing others for the SATs and PSATs. I was always a very strong math student and able to break down concepts in a variety of ways to adapt to the different learning styles that each of my former students had. In addition, I possessed an aptitude for improving my students’ reading comprehension skills, grammar, and, most importantly, abilities to understand the patterns of questioning that the College Board uses in its Writing and Critical Reading sections.

My belief is that the best preparation for a standardized test such as the SAT is repetition. Taking many practice tests allows students to spot patterns and SAT tricks and understand their weak areas that require additional attention.
