Certified Tutor

As a theatre artist, yogi, and empathetic intellectual, I am confident in my ability to help others learn to transform their frustrations and confusion into strength and understanding. I am an alumni of the University of California, Irvine. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Drama, was awarded Honors in Sound Design, and completed the minor in Cultural Anthropology. I grew up bilingual, having learned Spanish primarily with my mother who is from Mexico. Since completing AP Japanese in high school, I have continued my own study of the language and culture mainly via online conversation practices.

My experience is mostly in tutoring English, ESL, and TEFL. I completed my 100 Hour ESL/TEFL/TESOL Certificate with Oxford Seminars. With my multicultural background and academic experience, I am passionate about tutoring and teaching with patience and an open perspective. Since moving to New Brunswick, NJ, I have been volunteering at Youth Empowerment Services and tutoring all subjects for students in 2nd through 8th grade. From theatre exercises and games to very detailed and analytical technical work, I have a broad skill set I use to work with students at any age or level. Using my light sense of humor and inclusive attitude, my students often become less intimidated by their studies and learn to find their own voice.

When I am not tutoring or working in the theatre space, I love swing dancing, traveling, and writing silly songs.
