Certified Tutor

My tutoring experience includes assisting high school students with classroom writing assignments as well as college application essays; however, the majority of my experience is in ESL teaching. I started as a volunteer for Catholic Charities and was later hired as a teacher equating to a year of teaching experience. I taught two courses in my time as an ESL instructor including two semesters of Advanced English Reading and Writing as well as a semester of Advanced Grammar.

What makes me a great tutor is my passion for teaching and the subject matter, my enthusiasm in the classroom and my dedication to ensuring my students improve and succeed. I am extremely well organized, creative, motivating and patient, always teaching with a smile and positive attitude. I have ESL training certification with Oxford Seminars where I learned lesson planning and teaching strategies which I applied in my position as an ESL instructor. I have had to prepare my own lesson plans, as well as follow a curriculum, monitor and review student progress, as well as assess and execute means toward student improvement. Particularly challenging is catering to different learner levels in a singular classroom environment to meet each student's individual educational needs. I find teaching exhilarating, fulfilling and rewarding, and this translates into my classroom and student's learning experience.
