I have been teaching ESL (English as Second Language) for approximately 15-20 years at all levels in manufacturing locations, one on one, students at all age levels. I enjoy teaching others and seeing the light come up when a subject is mastered or understood. Looking forward to working with Varsity Tutors and getting to help others.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Get to know your student, and once you have determined how they like to learn, proceed to accommodate their needs into your teaching methods.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get to know them, see the materials they have, test them inadvertently by asking some questions and seeing the level at which they are, and ask questions to determine what their comfort zone is with the language and how they are going to handle the material.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Finding their likes and dislikes, and trying to tie them to the subject so that it can become part of it.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Reinforcement and letting them know how well they are doing, and sharing their successes.
