Certified Tutor

I am currently a junior in college enrolled in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland as a mechanical engineer. I also participated in a scholars program called Business, Society, and the Economy (which ended after my sophomore year) and currently participate in the QUEST (Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams) Honors program. Before college I attended Hinsdale Central High School and was involved in numerous clubs such as Model UN, ACE, NHS (Vice President), Happy Club, and played on the soccer team (varsity junior and senior year). In my high school and college year I have had experience tutoring/teaching others in many age and subject ranges. I consistently help my little sister out with all subjects (currently in high school) and also tutored middle school and high school students through NHS at Hinsdale Central. I even help teach and collaborate with fellow students at UMD. I feel comfortable teaching pretty much any subject you could throw at me. My strongest subjects are math and physics. I also had success in biology at the honors and AP level in high school and chemistry at honors and college level. I tested well on the ACT after significant practice and some tutoring of my own look forward to helping other students master the ACT. As a tutor, my main goal is to make sure the student feels comfortable with whatever problem they have to tackle. In every subject, there are generally multiple ways to solve problems, and I like to challenge the student to know each way to fully understand and master the concept. That way, the student is as prepared as he/she can be, and has a set of options to approach a problem. I am a firm believer that students can learn and master any subject with enough practice and by learning the correct ways to solve each problem. My goal is to teach each student how to approach and tackle problems, whether it is math, science, writing, test prep, or even general study habits/time management. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing sports (especially soccer), working out, watching tv, playing video games, and hanging out with friends and family.
