Certified Tutor

Currently I am finishing my Masters in Teaching, in Secondary Social Studies from the University of Washington. In March, I completed a student teacher internship at Franklin High School. I designed curriculum and taught 10th grade AP World History and 12th grade AP Government. I am also a graduate of Gonzaga University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Philosophy and Religious Studies. I studied abroad for a year in Florence, Italy, taking intensive courses in European History and Art History. I traveled extensively as well as tutored elementary school children and university students in English grammar and literacy. Since graduation, I have worked at the Pasadena Museum of History training docents to give tours and transcribing documents in the archives. Although I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most enthusiastic about English, Literature, and History. My goal as a tutor is to help students develop personal strategies and better learning habits to build their confidence and ability to approach any assignment. By engaging students in the context of the material, they gain deeper comprehension and receive more enjoyment from learning. I believe education is fundamental to the growth of the whole person and strive to bestow on students a passion and appreciation for lifelong learning. In my leisure time, I like to read, play basketball, cook, and enjoy the arts."
