I enjoy teaching mostly because I like working with students, and I enjoy the sense of satisfaction that they get when they succeed at something difficult. I have years of experience teaching Reading, Writing, Literature, and ESL at both the high school and college levels. I taught in a New York City public high school for ten years and before that at Rhode Island College, Indiana University, and Michigan State University. I have prepped students for standardized tests and the New York State Regents. My experience has taught me that not all students learn the same way, but that all students can learn--and enjoy learning--with the right approach for them. Even prepping for standardized tests becomes rewarding when students start to see results. In my spare time I enjoy reading (of course), crossword puzzles, photography, running, and playing with my dog, who I am trying to teach to run with me (he refuses to read or do crosswords, but poses nicely for photos).
